Snapshot Downloads for WIBL Hardware
In order to ensure repeatability in manufacturing, and to support anyone interested in generating their own hardware, archives of manufacturing runs for new versions of the WIBL hardware logger are archived here. The normal recommendation would be to make the latest version, since bugs are fixed and new features added with each version.
WIBL 2.1.0. This is the first available hardware build of the WIBL logger board, but does not include the 12V to 5V switch-mode power supply, and therefore is not recommended for general use.
WIBL 2.3.0. This provided updates to the power management on the board, support for SDIO access to the SD card (higher speed interface), but still uses the dual LDO power supply, and therefore is not recommended for general use.
WIBL 2.4.0. This version of the PCB implements the switch-mode power supply for WIBL boards, making for a much more efficient power system. This also upgrades the IMU to use the more recent LSM6DS3 part, making for easier construction.
WIBL 2.4.1. A minor update to the design for manufacturing, this version switches to a through-hole version of the RS-422 transceiver, and increases the outline of the PCB so that it provides more space for the RS-422 wiring harness to exist the 3D printed box. Apart from the DIP version of the transceiver, this is functionally identical to 2.4.0.
WIBL 2.5.1. An update to the design to use KiCAD for the schematic capture and layout, with minor changes to the power monitoring scheme to allow for actual measurement of the input voltage, leading to more robust monitoring. This also updates the layout to include four mounting holes for more secure installation in an enclosure, leading to a slightly larger board outline. A revised layout of the Switch-mode Power Supply has also improved the noise levels on the supply rails. Note that hardware v2.5.1 changes the supply voltage monitoring system, and to report the correct voltage (and thereby correctly shut down when the supply is disconnected), firmware v1.6.1 is required. Firmware before v1.6.1 will still work on hardware v2.5.1, so long as the emergency power monitoring is not enabled (it is disabled by default in the firmware boot configuration); enabling the monitoring on firmware v1.6.0 or before will likely cause the system to trigger an emergency shutdown even with valid supply voltage connected (which leads to the logger being unusable, since it will shut down immediately on boot).
WIBL 2.5.1. Updated version or archive with added mechanical drawings and new STL files to print the boxes required for the 2.5.1 hardware.
